I’ve been at the Keto thing for a little while. Most people want to know how I lost 20 pounds in the first four weeks. They is also always a little disappointed when they find out it was water weight. Not long after, around week six, I was able to take my belt in three holes.
Now, I am not a dieter per se. In fact, I would say this is the only healthy eating plan I’ve committed to. As I’ve aged my eating habits have improved. I do not believe eating your vegetables makes you any more grown up then money. None the less, both have benefits if used effectively. The keto diet is just a plan I have found myself able to sustain (and reap benefits from).
In one of my YouTube videos I give a quick run down on tips for a 21 Day Keto Diet. Keto Food On The Go is the big one a.k.a food prep.
I’m the type of person that will not stick around if the benefits are not immediate. I’ve wasted 45 years of my life trying to find shit that works for me, so my patience is not there for anything that does not start working quickly.
That being said, food is no different. If you have to spend a lot of time cooking, and not experiencing a great flavor, you will be less likely to stick with it.
So, my best advise:
One: don’t make excuses and be prepared.
Can you imagine if you were pregnant and kept trying to hold in the baby because of this or that. Nope. Nor would it work well to have the baby and then go shopping for all of the baby’s need. Accept this is something you are going to do and start prepping to help yourself be successful. And by prepping I don’t mean think/talk about it.
Two: plan for a keto cheat day.
I cannot stress this enough. You are going to cheat. I cover that factiod in my video above. Somewhat to step one, make some yummy treats are around, so when you can’t stop yourself from cheating you’re ready. Bacon cheese balls, poppers, buffalo chicken dip… all keto friendly. You can also check out my recipe on Low Carb Desserts – Keto Cheese cake. Bro…I don’t know, it smells like a glaze donut when it is done cooking. YUM.
Three: adjust your fats.
Don’t eat what you don’t like! This is liberating if you do it. If the recipe calls for too many eggs, scale them back and add in some cheese, avocado or bacon. Listen to your body. It will thank you. A little prep goes a long way and that is why it is my first tip. If you have some fried bacon or diced cheese around you won’t choke down eggs you don’t want any way. Chances are you don’t need them any way. Note: a sign of too much protein on a keto diet is bad breath.
Keto Food On The Go Benefits
- You are less likely to cheat: the food is available to you in an instant.
- Few to little macro Mistakes: if you use a predetermined recipe, along side an app like: MyFitnessPal you will know your portions and are less likely to over eat. Unless you are emotional. Then, shit, it’s anyones guess.
Below is one of my favorite Keto Food On The Go recipes because, it is so easy and delicious! If you are looking for something you can grab from the fridge that packs a lot of punch where flavor is concerned, you’ll love this! The best part, they are good hot or cold, with or without dressing them up with salsa or whatever. You can grab them and go too.
My Favorite Keto Food On The Go Ideas
Bacon & Cheese Fat Bomb (and an amazing Keto resource)
Similar to the recipe below (and also a great Keto resource) Bacon Egg Cups
Find a great Ketorade recipe at the bottom of this post (great for fatigue and fights dehydration)
Here is what you will need for this Keto Food On The Go recipe right now:
Canadian bacon, eggs, cheese and foil cupcake liners (salt & pepper optional)
That’s it! Just another reason I love this recipe.
My favorite recipes are KISS based…Keep It Simple Stupid.
First, line the muffin pan with your cupcake liners.
Second, slice the Canadian bacon in the middle from the edge to half way up. This will make it super easy to create the “cup” of the egg holder.
Next, crack an egg into each bacon you just lined with Canadian bacon.
Finally, top with a little cheese (and salt and pepper if you like).
Bake at 350 degrees for 16 – 20 minutes depending on preference.
Listen, by habit I dash Cholula on eggs; try these plain…. they are so good! Side them with bacon, nuts or avocado.
Note: I have a convection oven. If I use this feature it cuts the cooking time by a few minutes.
Cool and pop into the fridge in sandwich bags (will hold four).
Keto Food On The Go is going to help you be very successful. If you think you can’t do it just prep your food, have some keto goodies around and eat the ratios/fats that make you feel satisfied.
